How we survived a 13 hour flight with kids!

If you are reading this is because we already landed in Tokyo, Japan safe and sound! It means we didn't go crazy during our 13 hour journey! In the days leading up to the trip we did several things to prepare the kids. We got them a backpack full of activities, we got them comfortable audio headsets, we explained to them over and over the need to be in good behavior, we got them excited about the "Movie Marathon" they were going to be allowed to watch! Many people thought we were crazy and now that we have done it, maybe we are ...But it went well. Here is a hour by hour breakdown. Btw doing this blog was also entertaining.

Most international flights offer free movies, including new releases.

Even though this long flights offer snacks, we suggest you bring your own. Our oldest one had no problem, the little one was very picky about airplane food.

This was an event even for the flight attendants! They were super scared with a little bit of blood LOL. Thankfully he was a champion and just laughted it off!

I lost count of how many trips!! Between all of us...more than two docen times! We went to the bathroom just to stretch!

This was an all day flight! The sun was always out! It was a challenge to get them to sleep, but they finally did!

Airplane food!Terrible

And just like that we made it! Now in land and with the ride behind us everything seems great! But some things to consider:

1- Our kids behaved really, really well (5 and 8 years old) they are old enough to understand directions.

2 - They are used to flying, so we will probably not recommend this flight for first time travelers.

3 - At some point we did feel like OMG what are we doing, but luckily it was too late and there was nothing to do!

4 - We were lucky enough to have empty seats next to us and that made a world of a difference. Even if you have to pay a little extra choose your seats so that you are located where you want to be.

Hope this post gave you an insight to 13 hours on a plane with kids!
